Swimming classes


1st day.




This morning, William and many of his school friends had their first day of swimming class for this year. William and a few of his friends had the same classes last year, so they did pretty well. William still hesitates to get his head completely submerged, and despite the hot sun, he was still shivering after a while in the water. (In the swimming exercise above, the instructors are trying to get William to relax and lie back in the water.)

Class was attended not only by the kids and their daycare center teachers but also by four parents, including me.




Eventually, William even went off the diving board -- though I pressured him into it by embarrassing him, pointing out all his friends who went off the diving board without hesitation. However, he even went a second time, although he insisted on the teacher jumping off with him. (The swimming teachers are lifeguards at the community center near the daycare center.)
